Jen Coppens

President, Senior Consultant, VSG Facilitator

With a business and leadership background spanning more than 25 years across several different industries, Jen has experience helping leaders at many different levels build strong businesses and great teams. She is a VSG facilitator for multiple VMG groups and an experienced speaker. She has a background as a practice manager and her work as a practice consultant started in 2015.

Outside of Coppens Business Strategies, Jen is involved with programs that help people in need in her community and is the board president of a charter school focused on helping high school dropouts and at-risk youth. She lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan with her cat Perry.

Shannon Lovley, CVPM

Senior Consultant

Shannon has worked in Veterinary Medicine since 1991.  She has been the Practice Manager of, the highly rated, Cats Limited Veterinary Hospital in West Hartford, CT since 2009 and received the designation of Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) in 2013. Shannon started her career, in “human medicine” at a doctor's office.  As rewarding as that was her love of and passion for animals and the practice of caring for them won out.  Shannon holds an Associates of Science with a concentration in Business Management (2001.)  In early 2018 she joined Coppens Business Strategies.

Shannon continues to expresses her passion of Veterinary Medicine using her cumulative and trusted expertise to assist other veterinary practices with personal detailed attention to educate, streamline and grow their practice.  She regularly consults in the areas of: good accounting practices, hiring and retaining great candidates, the use of Cornerstone and AviMark with ease, proper protocols, instituting OSHA policies, day-to-day accounting with Quickbooks.

Caylin Hunter

Administrative Assistant

Having accumulated over a decade of experience in the Veterinary and Office Administrative fields, Caylin joined the Coppens Business Strategies team in the summer of 2022 as an Administrative Assistant.  Caylin has a lifelong passion and respect for the bond between animals and their human family members.  She earned her master’s degree in communication with an emphasis on social media in 2013 and is constantly looking to learn and grow in the Veterinary Administrative field.  

Caylin and her husband are owned by a variety of cats and a rescue Greyhound.  She is an active volunteer for a local no kill therapy cat sanctuary and an avid Greyhound event participant.  Outside of work Caylin enjoys sampling new cuisine at local establishments, shopping, travel and spending time with family and friends.  Caylin hopes that in the future she can further align her love for companion animals and administration with her position at Coppens Business Strategies.
